Another amazing animal that is hidden from human eyes as it lives on the seabed is the starfish. Let's learn how to draw it because it's not always possible to take a camera underwater.
There is a great variety of shapes and colors of starfish. We will draw the one that best matches the geometric shape of a star. You can choose any other, but first, try to repeat the following starfish drawing step by step.
Step 1. Outline the star shape of the starfish body.
Use five curved lines that mark the base of the starfish's body. Then, outline it to show the shape. Notice how it looks like five connected human languages.
Step 2. Draw starfish rays in more detail.
In our starfish, each of the five rays of the star is not just flat. They are divided into four more segments. The two central ones are decorated with paired spikes.
Step 3. Draw the spikes on the rays of the starfish.
Draw the lower part of the star's tentacle ray. It is slightly folded, like the "sole" of the snail. This tells us how the starfish moves. The rays of the starfish in our drawing are asymmetrical. In nature, living beings are rarely mirror-proportional. Even in humans, the left and right parts of the body differ, sometimes very much.
Step 4. Add volume to our starfish drawing.
In this step, we need to add volume to our starfish to make it three-dimensional. To do this, we need to show the starfish is not flat, adding the base using the short strokes on the bottom of each ray and showing the bottom of the rays is uneven.
Step 5. Hatching the starfish drawing.
Start hatching the starfish, giving it more details like the rows of spikes, the bottom parts of rays, and shades.
Step 6. Add shades below the starfish. Draw the starfish surroundings.
In the final step of our drawing, we will shade below the starfish to show it sits on top of the ocean floor. Also, add soil around our starfish and leave empty shells, like plates, after breakfast for our predator.
